Hello all! Here at Day2Night, we know that our customers are just as fabulous and fashion forward as we are, and we want to know what you think about our shoes!
One of our most fascinating customers just happens to be a professional dancer! Here’s what she had to say (and maybe she can teach me some moves):
What peaked your interest in Day2Night Convertible Heels?
Pain and discomfort… living in cities where I could not have a car, I found myself either walking an entire day on uncomfortable painful high heeled shoes or having to carry them in my bag all day!!! Also after going out dancing all night, sometimes I felt like I could not take another step to get to a cab! I saw in Singapore, in the nightclub area, they had a vending machine selling rolled up ballet slippers for that exact problem! I thought there must be a better way. For years I’ve looked for a shoe that’s hot, sexy and comfortable!! Shoe designers don’t seem to have any consideration for the health of our backs and feet, and comfortable shoe makers, sorry, just don’t seem to be able to come up with a shoe that looks hot!! Women have been suffering for years to look good, and as a dancer, I looked at some of my dance shoes and thought, well, the shank is flexible, and supportive… there must be a way to create a convertible high heeled shoe that would look sexy and yet be comfortable to walk around with all day…
How could you as a professional dancer benefit from having a convertible heel?
As dancers, our bodies are our tool, so it is very important that we take care of our feet, stretching and strengthening them for hours every day. Also the health of our lower backs. Yet we like to look good too. Having the ability to convert our shoes and save time that we’d spend walking around in high heels or with more heavy shoes in our bags ( a dancer will frequently have several pairs of shoes in a bag as it is for training ballet slippers, point shoes, ballroom shoes, sneakers, so the extra pair to wear to go out adds up…).
At Day2Night, what things should we keep in mind when creating a convertible shoe for professional dancers?
Durability! Dance shoes have to withstand many shows, rehearsals and training where we do things you normally would not do on another shoe- splits, jumps etc.
How can Day2Night introduce this shoe to the dancing community?
What I would use dancers for, for now, is the fact that we are more body and health conscious than most people, we care a great deal about our body and injuries and so going out in high heels becomes a bigger nuisance than it is for other women.
How many hours a day do you train?
Varies depending on shows, rehearsals, but anywhere from 2-10 hours a day.
Why do dancers switch shoes for different dances?
Each dance requires a different shoe, each shoe is specifically designed for a certain dance with minute details such as the material the dance floor is made of will correspond with what material will be on the sole of the shoe, certain shoes allow you to point you foot when others don’t etc.
What places have you lived?
Israel, Miami, New York, Sweden, Holland, England, Singapore and travelled and worked in many more
Where are you from originally?
Tel Aviv, Israel
What the best part about being a dancer?
Everything!! Living your passion, spreading joy, traveling, meeting amazing people, creating!
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Dancing samba in Brasil
Based on your experiences, what are some good cities to do a launch party for convertible heels?
Hilly metropolitan cities such as San Francisco and Hong Kong. And cities where people largely depend on public transport like New York and London.
Wow, so there you have it. Everyone from working professionals to professional dancers can’t wait to get their hands on our shoes!
You don’t have to be a professional dancer to wear Day2Night, but they might help you fool people into thinking that you are one when you dance the night away without ruining your feet!
Until next time…
MK for Day2Night
